Let me start by apologising if I missed other threads about the same topic. Did a fairly thorough search, which didn't find much on this particular forum. But a quick Google for "itunes Windows 7 64 problem" reveals that I am very much not the only one suffering here...

I've been running iTunes on my Windows 64-bit system for a while now. At first everything was fine - I synced my iPhone 3G no problem, and life was great.

However, since I got an iPhone 3GS, iTunes has gone potty. I get constant error messages ranging from "can't sync because of an unknown error" to "too many files are open". What the heck? And to make it worse, the problems now manifest with any iPod or iPhone I try to sync with the current installation.

I've done all the obvious things: Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes (several times), Restored my iPhone (several times), swapped iTunes cables, etc. But the problem remains. I haven't yet tried things like turning off Bonjour, but my feeling is that I shouldn't need to do things like that - it should just work!

Interestingly, when I have a look at the Windows processes that are running, iTunes has an *32 next to it, despite having most definately installed the 64-bit iTunes. I'm not sure if this is a new development, but it certainly doesn't look right.

Anybody else having this problem? And more importantly, does anyone out there have a solution (short of moving back to Mac, or reformatting my Windows system, because those really aren't solutions...).

I'm runnign iTunes on 64 bit Windows and I have never had an error message, although it lags too much. :(

It also has a *32 next to it, and is definitely the 64 bit version.

No Problem on my side... I did install a 64bit Itunes app from the Apple... (wasn't the latest version though)

I am running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)l on a new Dell Studio XPS 1640.
The Itunes download from the Apple site has worked flawlessly from launch.
Syncing is as quick as it was on my previous laptop running Vista Business.
Maybe Iam lucky. (touch wood)
BTW. I am using a 3Gs 16GB, local stock and completely standard.

No problems here either.
Win 7 Ultimate x64
iPhone 3GS 16gb not jailbroken

iTunes is more laggy than I want it to be but meh

I had the same sort of issues with my 64bit itunes. Turned out that my chipset (P55) had some issues communicating properly with the iphone. BIOS update from Asus fixed it all (and a lot more).
