Is there some way you can purchase programs from another country if you have purchased a SA iTunes gift voucher?

The SA iTunes store is very limited in what you can get, overseas have a much larger selection.

I did this - iPad is set for the US market.

It refuses the south african voucher code

You cannot use a ZAR voucher in the American store, you need to buy a USD voucher - you can do this either by visiting America or check online / there are plenty vendors

Please explain how you do this. Every method I've tried has failed. All the research I've done indicates that you cannot have a SA based credit linked to a US iTunes account. If you know of a way, please share it. Then the rest of us can say goodbye to vouchers forever.

To be honest I was never aware that you couldn't use an SA credit card. I just created a US account and paid with my credit card (From FNB). I then got charged the Rand value of the apps I purchased.

It may be that Apple does not recognise all CCs as foreign.

Consider yourself very lucky. The rest us plebs are forced to use vouchers. Maybe I'll try later to link my credit card again to my US iTunes account and see what happens.

I tried to link my FNB credit card and it gave an error. I tried my a FNB debit card and it did the same. From what I read up on the error, it seems as if iTunes verifies your credit card address against the address on iTunes.

A while back, I opened an Entropay account and tried to link it to iTunes but that failed as well.

Do you need a CC to create an itunes account then? I was under the impression you could open one with a US address and then proceed to only use vouchers for your purchases. I think I originally created my account using my SA credit card and a US or Kenyan address but my card got unlinked from that account a while back and I had to resort to using vouchers (bought online). It does suck though when you can't find what you want in the local store. These region restrictions are ridiculous in this digital age.
