Top Tip:
You can use GMail's plus addressing to create iTunes accounts across multiple countries, but using the same email address:

My Setup:
[email protected] <- US iTunes (main account)
[email protected] <- UK iTunes
[email protected] <- SA iTunes
etc...

Buy vouchers online from local resellers such as wildtwig.com or evopoints.co.za using SA bank card.

A $10 voucher costs R95 from wildtwig, so a bit more than face value but you get the code instantly and is hassle free.

you can, but SA app store has many regional restrictions. Many apps, songs, movies etc just aren't available.
I recently heard of people using the Kenya app store. Apparently there is a high availability of everything on that store, without the difficulties of voucher buying in the US and UK app stores
