Also it doesnt state if the lower end packages eg R35p/m still require a 2 year contract and if you receive the 3g modem with that.

They also state that from the 1st of February Vodacom is going to price 3G very aggresively. I took it as a positive statement - my mistake!

ic - call me a pessiment.. but I wouldnt count on a price war. "Competition" hasn't stopped the threesome orgy (mtn, cellc, vodacom) feasting on the cellular customers.

Sorry but I'm not giving Vodacom any credit on this one. Whether it's R2/MB or R599/GB it's still very expensive and therefore not a good offering in my opinion.

Dropping the price from R10.00 to R2.00 per MB. Now that is competitive pricing, my mistake. It actually shows whata markup they had on 3G when they launched. Dont think Vodacom is giving us free bandwidth, must have at the least 150% markup on the per MB alone. Gues sthey are the only ones smiling.

Ok wamatt, I will just call you a peppermint then :D

Lol! My bad.. must work on brain, eye, hand co-ordination thing.

Does anyone know if MTN is going to be upgrading to UMTS to offer 3g as well? I really think 3G is priced for the corporate road warrior, IMO quite a small slice of the potential SA pie.
