Japanese ADSL & Broadband

Just to make every one jealous here are some of the broadband offerings in Tokyo

All information obtained from

ADSL

That equates to less that ZAR 200 for 50Mb ADSL and VoIP phone service per month

FIBER

Fast Internet connection with Optical Fiber
This plan is to connect to the Internet through "B-Flets" provided by NTT East / NTT West. In order to use this plan, it is necessary to apply for "B FLET'S" of NTT East / NTT West besides OCN "Hikari B-Flets" plan.

If we equate that to Telkom’s pricing of approx ZAR 800 for 512kb
Telkom would be charging
800 x 50mb/512kb
=800 x 100
=80000

which is

=80000/200
=400 times more expensive than South Africa

we'll get VDSL soon too. It'll be a Telkom/MNET partnership for DTV, but i assume internet access will be 512K and capped as usual.
