Japan's whaling ship gets Halal certification

I'm muslim and tired of the halaal certification authorities and all their BS. Maybe Wayfarer can step in here but I have never heard of a requirement that any seafood, be it fish or mammal, from the ocean needing to be halaal certified. Not sure if i would eat whale though.

The alcohol issue also does not hold water with me and maybe it's because my understanding of the reasons behind it is flawed. To me, the consumption of alcohol is not allowed and the occurrence of alcohol in cleaning products, perfume, medicine, etc does not affect me in using the product. I therefore also do not see any contamination of foodstuffs by using cleaning agents that contain alcohol. Alcohol is probably the best disinfectant for cleaning. Wayfarer could maybe also provide his insight into this.
