Hey ppl :) At the moment I want to give up. When It comes to software and feeling like I do now I know I can just come to you guys! Ok so what I am trying to do is run Opera mini (you know, the browser for your phone) on my windows pc and download a file. So first of all I went and downloaded Java Runtime Enviroment and Java wireless Toolkit. I installed and then downloaded opera mini 5 beta.jar. I then used JAD-Maker to make the jar a jad (because the JWTK needs a jad file). I then tried opening it, and all that happens is that the emulator window comes up for a second and then it is gone. This has happened a million times to me in the past with other apps and JWTK, and I still don't have a clue why. Ok so next I go and download MicroEmulator. I run Opera mini 5 with it, and hooray, it works. Ok so I go on the internet and try to download a file, and this is where my problem comes in. MicroEmulator prompts me that "the Midlet requested the phone to handle the following url: www.whatevertheurlwas.com/blabla.mp3". Then I can just click OK. I want the stupid microemulator to open the link with firefox or internet explorer or whatever. In JWTK with the older opera mini (that actually worked on it), if you download a file it would open the link with firefox. OK so my quetion is this: How can I make MicroEmulator open a link for a download in firefox, or if nobody knows that, why do you think Java Wireless Toolkit's emulator crashes when I open Opera Mini 5.jad? Or as a last resort is there any other J2ME emulator for windows that may work?

Not quite sure what you're trying to do there.

You can get other emulators from forum.nokia
Crashing could be that opera mini 5 is written for a different midp version than microemulator.

Ok thanx but It's not microemulator that crashes > It is Java Wireless Toolkit. Microemultor just doesn't do what I want it to do (that is open a download link in Firefox). All I want to do I run Opera mini 5 on my PC and download a file.

But thanx :)

Oh, now I see what you're trying to do.

Forgot about this thread shot timgaul.

Opera Mini is a midp java app, it doesn't have direct access to the file system so it won't download any file.

No I know, but I'm not trying to download directly to a filesystem. All I want from opera mini is to give the download link of the file I want to download to Firefox. When I use the Java Wireless Toolkit it does that automatically but as I said I can't seem to "run" opera mini 5 on the JWTK emulator, it just crashes. :(

O and Opera mini 5 is midp 2.0, just BTW.

Ok I'm only familiar with midp1.1 so 2.0 probably has changed with filesystem access.

Tried Opera Mini 5 beta, it opened in with the JWTK but opening a link just gave me the option to exit Opera Mini... Then nothing happens after that plus I can't open the darn thing with out deleting it's configuration settings. So your best bet is just using Opera Mini 4.2.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems Opera Mini 4.2 is giving me problems with installation.

Hey DJN, thanx for the reply!

Ok so the thing is that the Opera mini 5 I am trying to use is a modded version by handler. I can't use Opera mini 4.2 for specified reasons I can't really discuss ;)

Do you think that downloading and installing the Sony Ericsson SDK will help?

Thanx:)
