In south Africa which will be a better career,in terms of job opportunities and Salary,i am currently in Durban

VB.NET is more of a learning language. It's not used extensively in business. Most people learn VB.NET then migrate to C# for work.

There is a massive shortage of Java developers in SA corporates at the moment so it pays easily 10 - 20% more than C#.

Java by a long mile. It seems as if you don't know either, and you are now going to start learning it. Good luck, it seems you think this will be easy. Pointing you in the right direction was the easy part.

Java
Even I am having to learn it after being a C vet for many years
