Java - WTF has it gotten so bad?

So install only the free Open Source Java. I think Oracle's site has a "no add ons" windows installer.
I agree with you though. **** your random installs, I don't want Yahoo in any shape or form. I don't want stealth installs.
I see you are on OSX. Install Homebru. And then install your software from the creators via a (super simple) command line.

Skype wants MSN or somesuch? So MS is just the same.
This was on an automatic reminder update. Point is if Java's going to regularly sink to this level, it's probably time to reassess my need for it.
Btw have long used homebrew, just not for Java; plus Maxwell @mxcl is working at Apple now, so no longer allowed to work on home-brew i.e. it's future could get shaky.
Those are Microsoft services so not quite the same; Oracle has no affiliation with Yahoo, hence this is included for income.
Plus I certainly haven't seen this whilst I was installing / upgrading Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code
There's two ways I could interpret this:
- Oracle's bean counters are ruling the roost; pushing unprofitable areas to increase income by any means or else.
- Oracle is being kind to Yahoo; or they own stock and trying to bolster their income. Doubtful.

Nope; I run little snitch and that would have certainly flagged any in/out connections.

Beats Microsoft where you have to restart The time is immaterial, having a top set modal dialog for any length is irritating (a standard windows could be minimized). On Microsoft, that's why I use a OSX and Linux.Lol. A download progress bar ?? What a scandal. Who does that

In fact until you brought it up, I didnt even realise it was a modal dialog.What does bother me is when downloads try sneaky moves to install other crap. Like FileZilla etc.
If I'm on the Mac I'm usually behind an IDE, modal dialogs mess with that + It was exacerbated by network outage i.e. more like a few minutes.I use OSX as well. It doesnt bother me because it doesnt hang around. My life isnt that hectic that every second counts

Software that tries to install crap is removed, Java's getting close.
