Hey All,

I drive a 2005 Jetta and recently my lights are like really poor.At night it is very bad.
I changed my bulbs to Silverstars and there was not much off a difference.Took it to VW ."Apparently" they tested my voltage and it was correct .They suggest i change my lights .I mean WTF,my car is in great condition especially the lights. There is no fade on the glass!

I get so annoyed driving at night. Was driving to buddy of mine tonight and drove into a deep pothole obviously not seeing it!Lucky no damage.

Anyone got any ideas?

Take it to an auto electrician.

I am assuming a huge amount of things but: either your globes are screwed (the new Silverstars, unlikely), or for some reason you are not getting enough voltage at your lights - and this might be something like a short happening somewhere.

Yup,considering doing that since VW service is crap!

Are the lights focusing where they should? Maybe the range adjustment settings went out a bit.

In that case you should definitely let an auto electrician look at the lights.

Jetta 3 headlights were diabolical, no matter how you adjusted them, maybe the lousy lights are just part of Jetta DNA.

Jetta 3, 2005 model?
My Golf 3's lights were pretty good, Jetta 4's lights decent, but the Jetta 5's is terrible.

Sorry, maybe I didn't say that clearly enough. I know that the 05 is not a Mk3, just that for some weird reason VW has always managed to have lousy lights on a Jetta.

And sorry from my side. There was supposed to be a ;) next to my first line.

Did you have a Jetta 4 with the same problem?

Audi A4 from the same period. It was so bad that when I drive underneath and average streetlight I couldn't figure out from the reflection in the road whether my lights were actually on or not. With nightbreakers it all changed.
