JHB vs CPT 3G speeds

I have to spend a few days in JHB for business and was amazed to see the difference in 3G speeds here compared to CPT. Both coverage and speed seem to be better here. I can't believe it's the same network. I guess coz all the money is up here in JHB services have to be better while all we have is the mountain ....

Come to think of it, when I was in PE 2 weeks ago, their speeds were similar to Cape Town too. Come on Cell C get the rest of the country up to the same standard as JHB and stop our frustrations!!

I haven't tried Cell C 3g in JHB, but after reading the posts in this forum, I think you are correct.

Could entirely depend on which area in CPT and Joburg you were testing as you could be in bad 3G area in CPT but good 3G area in Joburg, unless you travelled every square mile of both cities while constantly online.

Care to share which main areas you tested in CPT and JHB?

here in somerset west i regularly get 3+ Mbps (on my white dongle - highest speeds i got was 5Mbps)- maybe the fact that I am on a farm and not too many peeps around helps
