Truth is Angelo, our/your heroes would turn in their graves if they knew what was happening (or not happening) in this country.
Corruption, graft, theft, non-delivery: chanting for the heroes that are the thieves of the people (and they are silly enough and misinformed enough to believe them.)
I wish when you spoke of your heroes you had some idea of what you were talking about - for instance:

Now name stuff the ANC Government has created after its heroes. I can think of a few:
The Dr. Beetroot Hospital for HIV Survivors.
The Zuma Institute for Business Ethics.
The Matsepe-Casaburri Telephone Company
What else did this new Government create?
That is non-acceptable and not an option (for many people, what of the kids?) Got any better ideas?
(and why should people leave their home because we have a non-capable government.) But then seems some on this thread see no problem and all is acceptable.

Watching the News on TV last night, FW De Klerk didn't seem perturbed about the renaming of The Airport to OR Tambo and was actually quite upbeat about it.
He was more concerned about Potch and 2 other towns, not caring to remember now.
One theory I have which is probably just a theory is that many Afrikaners didn't care that "The Airport" changed away from Jan Smuts International Airport about 10 years ago, one for all the reasons given and the other probably because Smuts liked the English too much and many Afrikaners lost family in both WWI and WWII siding with The English against The Germans, when The Boer War was still a bitter reality for many Boer Families.
Germany helped The Boers and now they had to fight them.
Read about "Die Bittereinders" and you may make more sense of what I just said.

Actually it is a load of rubbish. It's the same government in place... mostly even the same ministers. The evolvement of the Government will always be in line with the evolvement of the Ruling party, i.e. the ANC. The renaming of place names has always been at the forefront of the ANC's objectives, except when it is not an ANC originating change request. A case in point is the government statements that were made when King Goodwill Zwelitini suggested that Kwazulu Natal dropped "Natal" from it's name, then all of a sudden renaming was a bad thing (and statements were actually made about this

But Potchfestroom the city in itself is a monument on its own for south africa, some of the history of potchefstroom and our country:
The first Government Gazette was printed and published in Potchefstroom. The Dutch Reformed Church in the Transvaal (at that time) were founded in Potchefstroom in 1842 and since 1905 the town has been the theological seminary of the Gereformeerde Kerk.
The first constitution of the " South African Republic" was drafted here;
The first coat of arms of the Republic was designed here;
The first church building in Transvaal was erected here;
Potchefstrrom was the first town in the Transvaal to obtain municipal management;
The first "Staats Courant" (Government Gazette) was printed here and the first public press in Transvaal was established here.
And the first shot in the war of 1880-1881 between the Transvaal and Britain.

As far as I know, not one of the Cabinet Ministers appointed after the 1994 elections has still remained in the same office until now, so no it is not the same government
Cabinet has been reshuffled quite often, sometimes even during a specific term. Your statement makes zero sense then, cos then we've changed governments several times in the past 3 years....
Off the top of my head....
Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, was minister of health (after 1994 elections), now minister of foreign affairs.
Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, formerly minister of Wealthfare, now Minister of Public Service and Administration
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, formerly deputy minister of Trade & Industry -> Minister of Mineral & Energy -> Deputy President of SA
Trevor Manuel, Minister of Trade & Industry, now Finance minister......
Additionally, I do believe the majority of todays ministers were in fact ANC MPs in 1994, and in many cases they were actually Deputy Ministers.
I'm sure I probably missed a few.

No, the ANC is in power, not the individuals. The individuals do not run the show as they are quick to remind the public (Zuma is a case in point). So, based on your logic, South Africa has had at least 3 new governments in the last 2 years?
The ANC dictates the government in this country, which is a result of (as you so often stated) the monkies being voted into power by "the people". So when one minister retires or dies of AIDS, the next most incompetent person will be put in his/her place (the exception obviously being the department of Finance, which is run squeaky clean and as efficiently as possible).

Let's weigh the pro's and cons:
Cons: JIA was already changed from Jan Smuts.
It's gonna cost alot to change it again.
People are going to have to learn where this is.
Pros: The new generation will be asking who OR Thambo is.
That itself is a good enough reason. If only everyone knew what he has sacrificed and done for our country.
About those cons... JIA isn't even in Jhb, forget about Jhb even having to change it's name. As for money? The goverment has tons of it. They just don't have the capacity to use it at the moment. Only 2% of the population have ever flown on an airplane. I think those 2% wouldn't mind finding out where it is again.
