Jimmy Manyi gets a blasting from Manuel

Minister in the Presidency Trevor Manuel has launched a scathing attack on Government communications head Jimmy Manyi, accusing him of the worst order of racism and tribalism.

The Star newspaper is reporting Manuel wrote an open letter to Manyi over comments he made last year about an oversupply of Coloureds in the Western Cape.

In the letter, Manuel said he "now understands what Nelson Mandela was talking about" when he famously said that he had fought against both white and black domination.

Manuel wrote that Madiba had been referring to people like Manyi.

He accused Manyi of having the same mind that operated under apartheid, effectively calling him a racist and a tribalist.

The minister also questioned where the government communications head was during the freedom struggle.

Manyi has declined to comment

What I don't understand is that the ANC is trying to get the WC back. But with a mentality like that, I think they just gave the DA a 80% voting total in the whole of the WC, probably winning all the municipalities and it gets the DA a foot in the Northern Cape as well. I mean there were a good percentage of coloured people still voting ANC in the WC and the majority still voted ANC in the northern cape. This is like suicide on their part (or more like cutting of your arm).

Coloured people have been getting quite a lot of flak recently. The passion gap fiasko, Manyi and the the column about coloured woman, and right before the elections.

What I would really like to know is why is the ANC so determined to win back the WC when they are failing so dismally in all their 8 provinces?
Why cant they just govern their existing provinces properly and fix all the problems, then worry about the WC.

I have a feeling that Manuel took offence because he is coloured himself. I took offence at the Shoot the Boer song because I am white, so I can see where Trevor is coming from.

Well I heard on the radio this morning, Manuel said he finally realised that people of all races can be racists (in his letter). I mean WTF? Seriously. :wtf: I always considered Trevor Manuel a very intelligent man until I heard that retarded comment. Just shows you many people have no clue what racism actually is.

The fact the ANC won't fire Manyi means this ***** footing around the issue won't work. Zille must be sitting in a corner somewhere enjoying this show, after all it wasn't the DA who drop the bomb shell. Solidarity knew exactly what they doing releasing this in time for elections.
