Most Metro Dept's now use AR15.
They are usually junk, and cannot compare even closely to the LM series. But since the LM's were discontinued just about the whole country has gone over to the AR platform. Pity.
These rounds would be for their AR's, whichever they use. Decent ammo. I see it was made in 2020 I think. Wonder who is making the brass headstamped just for JMPD.....PMP most likely?
Plenty money to be made in those ammo tenders.

In short, nothing.

9mm Luger and 9x19mm Parabellum refer to the exact same round. When someone refers to 9mm, they almost always mean 9x19mm.

No, Luger as in 9x19mm and government loaded 9x19mm. Higher or lower pressure rounds. Are all equal FMJ. same grain? and Luger meaning 1901 year of design and manufacture. Because the Old P08 is a pain in the ass to shoot with 9x19mm ammo. Only mil spec seems to work and that is impossible to find bar self loading.

PMP is bankrupt. Guptas stole everything. The 10 million rounds that was stolen during the Riots last year was imported because PMP cannot deliver anymore.

I am damn sure the Nato 5.56mm and Rem .223 is interchangeable meaning they fire in both rifles.
 
I enjoy using JMPD's outdoor shooting range in Roodepoort. It's a really nice range.

But I will never again shoot there while JMPD is there. They used to keep the target stands in a shipping container close to the gate (before someone stole all of the steel target stands). One day, I was finishing up my practice, and took all of the target stands back to the container. As I walk out of the container, one of the JMPD officers walk past me, carrying a shotgun on both arms, like you would do with chopped wood. The chop sweeps me with the shotgun, completely unaware or unconcerned. I rushed to get my bags and leave the range. As I'm about to exit the gate, I look back to see these so called professionals practice. There are about 15-20 of them on the firing line, maybe about 10m from the target. While they are busy firing, some other officers stand behind them with a rifle, posing for pictures, fingers on triggers, without a care in the world. I made sure to get away asap.

I was taught the two worst sounds in the world. A click when you expect a Bang and a Bang when you expect a click...
 
PMP is hanging on....not sure how. But they still produce.
Some of the stuff they export is.....wow. There is business. Just poor management.
They still produce all the .mil and SAPS ammo. The stuff that was stolen was a commercial import, destined for the gunshops.
 
You can shoot the (slightly) lower pressure 223 in a rifle chambered for 5.56 NATO, but you cannot shoot 5.56 in an older rifle chambered for 223. On my AR I shoot both safely, but wouldn’t use the hotter 5.56 rounds I load in a 223.
