The GLRU has acquired the full time service of John Mitchell.....well done Kevin & Manie great to get such caliber coach.

Emirates Western Force inaugural Coach John Mitchell has been granted a release from the final year of his contract at the club to allow the former All Blacks mentor to pursue an opportunity with the Golden Lions in South Africa.

now they just need to move to the calabash and we are set...... It's going to take some time, but I think there are some good things in store for the lions

I thought that he was already the coach - or was it just for the Currie Cup only and then he was going to go back to Australia.

The GLRU should keep their paws off Soccer City. If they want to play a game or 2 in SOweto, which they should, Orlando Stadium would suit the expected crowd better. Soccer City should only be used for rugby for Tests, and the potential neutral Super Rugby finals that Aus want. Oh, and maybe if the Lions ever make the play offs again :p

Anyway, hopefully Mitchell can help out the Lions in the Super 15, the team has been useless for way too long!

Best news in awhile. Mitchell is an incredible coach. Now the GLRU need to spend some money and buy him a few quality players.

whats your reasoning? anyway just so long as they move from elis park ill be happy

Well the Lions and Golden Lions are luckey to draw 20 000 fans lately, so they would just be ****ing up the pitch for no reason. The pitch is meant to be kept in perfect condition for cup finals and Bafana matches.

seems like the Lions has a lot om money, why dont they buy back Jaques Cronje, and where is Wikus van Heerden and Cobus Grobelaar?, imagine 8.J.Cronje, 7.W.van Heerden 6.Cobus Grobbelaar, what a loose trio..., if they want a good hooker, why not get Lukas van Biljon back, and they should consider investing in a good lock, maybe offer Victor or Danie a 5 Million Rand Contract, and they need a good Flyhalf, get Dercik Hougaard in the mix, i think our centre pait is good enough, but it would not hurt getting someone like Brent Russel back in the squade for experiance, also wont hurt getting a stong wing, a certain Lote Tuqiri rings a bell......nudge......nudge.....
