Cape Town - According to a statement posted on talk radio station 702's website, popular host John Robbie has decided to retire at the age of 61.

Robbie has been with the station for over 30 years and will end his career at the end of 2016.

He will be replaced by Redi Tlhabi in the afternoon slot, Redi currently does the morning slot and she will be replaced by Eusebius McKaiser.

All changes will take effect in January 2017.

Redi is a race-obsessed idiot. Her entire thing is to pit two groups against each other. Eusebius is also a race-obsessed person (can't fairly call him an idiot), but one that also feels the need to constantly remind the world that he's gay. At least he can have a conversation though.

Not a great fan of JR but he is not as bad as the other 2.

Ah, XG is alright in my book, he has a pretty decent sense of humour.

Agree with the other two, I can't stand Redi. Eusebius is fun to troll on twitter though.
 
John’s retirement has created an opportunity to restructure the 702 line-up, and from the 9th January 2017, current afternoon drive host, Xolani Gwala will be taking over the breakfast slot from 06h00 to 09h00.

Redi Tlhabi, who has been with 702 in the mid-morning slot for 10 years, will take over afternoon drive from 15h00 to 18h00.

Her current show, 09h00 to 12h00 will be permanently hosted by Eusebius McKaiser who has been filling in for Redi for the past three months while she has been on maternity leave.

Haven't listened to 702 since that day and doubt I ever will. Cape Talk FTW.

No he can't, not an open minded one anyway. He's rigid minded and singing off a hymn sheet of progressive dogma. I went to the same uni that he did, at the same time, and studied the same courses and I know his opinion or rhetort before he even states it. It's all "spaces" and "narrative" and this cliched progressive crap that if he'd ever had a job or life two steps away from an liberal academic echo chamber he'd be more in touch with a thing called "reality".
 
Agree Xolani is a better replacement for John in the breakfast slot. I cannot stand Eusebius or Redi either.

Good to hear Xolani Gwala is the replacement. Definitely the best guy in the current lineup to take the morning show.

He should stick to twitter. Very frustrating to listen to him on the radio. I don't bother with Redi. Her maternity leave was a relief...
 
I found JR's shows extremely depressing. I enjoy how XG can laugh about something and roast the hell out of someone all in one show.
