John Wick and John Wick 2

Watched it. True star of the movie is Halle Berry and her friends.

That's all folks.
For 3? Halle Berry was the worst part, saw the stunt men literally shift over to help her get her move right, the dogs were what excused her inclusion for me.
JW3 was a little bit of a let-down due to lack of plot building. I know the plot was never the greatest, but at least there was always something, this movie was a bit too much action (strange to even say that about an action movie).

The ingenuity and energy of the scene alone deserves some merit, especially when you consider Halle is no spring chicken anymore.

Saw John Wick 3 last night.

I liked the photography, colours and graphic novel type cinematic.

But I think they should tone down the action - because it's becoming boring. It all just becomes a blur with the movie slipping by while that happens.

I know Hollywood demands "bigger and better and more and more" for each subsequent sequel - but that normally results in the franchise collapsing.

I liked the story expanding and filling in how the underworld works and giving more prominent roles to many of the characters.

IMO what they should do is give us more of that, much more, and ration the action to key points in the. movie. They should let the audience anticipate just how much retribution JW is going to unleash, and become fully invested in that, so each time he has to go into action, everyone is cheering for him. But we should only get small doses, to keep it interesting.

We all know he's supposedly as bad ass as it gets, but just giving us more and more of that is the way to shut the franchise down IMO.

I wasnt particularly impressed with Halley Berry - she wasn't that believable to me, and I'm afraid those dogs would get shot or stabbed pretty damn quickly in any real extended fight (one even did get shot, but miraculously survives without a scratch even though it was standing head on, where its bullet proof vest could not have offered much protection). So that detracted from the movie for me, because what made Chapter 1 interesting, over and above the story etc, was the very accurate technicalities of shooting and fighting. I felt they drifted away from that in 3.

But anyway it wasn't a waste of time - just think they need to review their approach a bit for Chapter 4.

I am def game for that.

Lionsgate Announces John Wick 5 & Back-to-Back Productions!

With just three mainline films under its belt, the John Wick franchise is quickly on its way to becoming Lionsgate’s most-acclaimed and financially successful franchises of theirs yet and they’re looking to keep it going as John Wick 5 has officially been confirmed in a recent studio earnings call, according to Deadline.

During the earnings call, Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer initially confirmed the release date for the forth coming fourth installment in the hit action franchise and went on to confirm a fifth film is in the works as well as hopes to keep the cameras rolling immediately after production wraps on John Wick 4.

“We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022,” Feltheimer said in the call. “We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”

The Keanu Reeves-led series has been a major hit for Lionsgate thus far, grossing nearly $600 million at the global box office and receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, with each subsequent installment garnering larger praise than its predecessor. Its success has not only spawned the multiple sequels, but also a spin-off film Ballerina with Chapter 3 — Parabellum co-scribe Shay Hatten penning the script and Len Wiseman (Underworld) directing, as well as a Starz series centered on the underworld hotel The Continental, which is looking to debut sometime after the fourth film.
