can u guys recommend a good program for joining of avi's

i download the last 7 of grey for a friend who missed them and want to put it on 1-3 dvds not 7 :)

VirtualDub.
You can get it on Digital Digest's website, together with instructions on how to do it.

And I suggest VirtualDubMod, it's the latest fork of VirtualDub.

I used MPEG Video Wizard to join & split and it worked well.

Nandub is a early fork of virtualdub that supported "features" like VBR Mp3 streams and such if I remember correctly, after that it forked to VirtualDubMod. But I see VirtualDub itself is still being maintained whereas VirtualDubMod is not.

So in the end I say VirtualDub and if that doesn't work VirtualDubMod, VirtualDubMod can do anything that Nandub can do and then some (as far as I know) except it's newer.

why do you need to join the avi to put them on to dvd's?

Or are you wanting to convert them to DVD format?

killa, perhaps you need to rephrase what you are trying to do. After reading it again, I realise that it is a bit confusing...

well i downloaded the last 7 grey episodes for a friend who missed them

want to join them so i can encode on 2-3 dvds and not seven :)

you don't have to join them to re-encode to dvd format.

Convertxto dvd will allow multiple files and even create a menu for you.

killadoob: i've nver used winavi so i can't comment on the quality, but convertxtodvd will put about 3 episode at pretty high quality on 1 dvd disc, and depending on your system it will take about 2hrs to convert complete with menu.

You can check out Nero Recode if you already have Nero installed, their solution is pretty decent for 1 click, in terms of quality (as in picture quality) none of these solutions are very good but I'm assuming you don't want to spend hours on it so best use a 1 click solution.

Rather than use Nero Recode, use Nero Vision. Add your AVI files, create the menu and let it run. It will convert the files to VOB and add a menu.

Well whichever :p haven't used that in ages so I'm not up to scratch on what's going on in the world of Nero these days ;)

Does NeroVision allow to set the output file size? I have a feeling it automatically creates the files to the size of about 4.3GB, which is what he is trying to avoid.
killa, try some other apps like MediaCoder and AUTOGK, which are free tools on the net.

If you have multiple episodes being re-encoded it will adjust each episodes size to fit onto one dvd disc, as i mentioned the app i use is convertxtodvd and it will make sure 3 episodes will fit, i'm quite sure that nero does that as well.
