joining video files

good day all. i need some help/advice please. i want to put a movie on my mp4 and i have copied the files(3) to avi format so as to watch it but as there a 3 files you have to start each one manually. what i want to do is combine the 3 files into one file for it to run. i think the program i need is a freeware avi joiner but which one? i downloaded AVIMERIN but it does not work. can you guys help please. thanks

The last time I tried this (joining), I used virtual dub. It was free at the time, not quite sure if it's still around. Also remember that you frame rates, size and audio stream need to be the same for this to work.
 
oh ok i saw that virtual dib one will check it out but this frame rate stuff is way over my head but i am sure i can work it out. i managed to get music videos on it but now wanna try for movies. my first one i had i managed 6 full length movies but i think it was another format.
 
is virtual-dub still recommend, or is there something else better out there now?
 
If I remember correctly there was a program called Nandub which always worked for me. I think its a variation of virtualdub if i'm not mistaken. Have a quick google. :)
