Have had iBurst for 2 months now, and have always had "disconnection" messages whilst playing JOPS on the SA servers. During this his official launch month gameplay is impossible - any ideas on whether this is going to improve?

what os are you running? what firewall? anti virus? there are numerous things that could be the cause.
Not always the connection.

XP Pro SP2, Norton IS 2005. Have even tried disabling both firewalls.

Try opening the port for the net or the gaming site? Ie port 80 or 8080 ect?
not sure what they would be but often in WinXP SP2 you will start the game and it will ask for permission but wont show it up as the game has started already then if yu minimize the game it minimizes the permissions scrren aswell?
Do you get the same problem if you play of another server ie one in the UK?

If it has been working perfectly before the pre launch ie: before all the shaping and no working after than sure 1+1=2 ie: there is the problem?

Let's just say it was sometimes okay before the launch. Now it really is impossible. Is anyone getting good results using iBurst?

having more than 1 firewall active on same Windoze PC

 Hi Ogre

Playing what you said there I reverse, I assume you normally have both the Norton2005 firewall as well as the XPSP2 firewall enabled, correct? If so, I would permanently disable one of them - they will interfere with each other, and you PC will suffer performance consequences.

Having said that, and not being into gaming, I would still peg your gaming problems on iBurst's indiscriminate & overboard shaping of everything to death - probably as a result of their inability to manage the iBurst network & available bandwidth [i.e. they just decide to kill everything for all customers].

<added>I also think the non-management of the iBurst bandwidth & network is the result of the unstable latency that I usually get - as a result of my traffic being contended with everyone else's traffic.</added>

Yup! I'm of the opinion that the fault lies with iBurst's setup. I've loaded DrTCP, and "tweaked" according to WBS's specifications to no avail. My ping is way to long (93ms - >1600ms) average 310ms over +- 30 minutes to have an enjoyable online gaming session. However this does not give me an explanation as to why I get a "connection interrupted" message - as long as 100 seconds, and then sometimes just get disconnected from the session.

I get something similar [or maybe exactly the same] with simple browsing - usually the pages load alright/snappily but there are times when it will take a minute or two for a small page to load, then after a while that disappears, only to repeat the whole cycle at some point again. IMO it is related to contention - the more iBurst cusomers using bandwidth concurrently & having to run the gauntlet to get any kind of share of it. All of WBS' shaping efforts to kill certain types of usage, are simply killing legitimate uses of the disservice, and also increasing the latency due to the ham-handed shaping.

You have to remember any wirless Connection to the net will never have the same latency as a cable or a direct physical link.
Thats a fact.
So i guess you have to call WBS :D:D:D sorry but we all know how that will turn out lol
