Jones calls Amla a 'terrorist'

Jeez u okes are just as racist as the aussies, had he picked on a "white boy" im sure the comments here would be different!!!!

LOL, you're right and they (the comments) were...

remember when Cullinan was picked on by Warne?

I'm sure Amla has been called a terrorist before. I would be interested if he even cares being called that.

I haven't heard the commentator, so I don't know if it was in jest or maliciously intended, but any good commentator should have known better. If nothing else he deserves to be fired for being stupid.

Again there will be a lot of brouhaha about something that has nothing to do with the parties involved or the actual comment or cricket, just sensation and hype from the media - to sell newspapers or to save face in the eyes of 'public'.

Majola welcomes 'swift action'

Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa have welcomed the swift action taken by host broadcaster, Ten Sports, following their commentator, Dean Jones, calling Proteas player, Hashim Amla, a "terrorist" during live commentary of the second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Jones was summarily dismissed and Ten Sports made a public apology following an official complaint by Cricket South Africa's CEO, Gerald Majola.

First I don’t think calling someone a terrorist is racist. A derogative statement, yes, but not racist. What about white terrorists? The first modern terrorists were the Boers in the second Anglo war. They were called guerillas, but same diffs.
What I think Jones meant was Amla is like a terrier. I have a Jack Russel Terrier and that dog is a terrorist of note. No ball escapes this JR’s fielding eye. All the dog’s in my household fears this JR. He even ran a dog over that is 5 times his weight and 3 times his height. You only saw the other dog flip over but the JR never lost speed. Now that is a terrorist of note.
Once again I think it is the media that pulls things out of proportion, just because a reporter is culturally disadvantaged or just plain stupid. Starting a momentum of words and quibbles out of self-satisfying grandeur is typical of the modern media.
I cannot believe the multi billion $ media industry worries about a 3 second sentence while children are starving around the world due to media enticing war.
Shame on the media – shame.
