Hi iBurster forumites

Please use this thread to post about technical problems you are experiencing specifically during June 2005. I recommend posting snippets of log files, tracert's, pings, speed test results etc [please remove any personal info including your own iBurst assigned IP address when posting] :).

Generally posts should be about problems which are totally out of your own control, e.g. loss of signal from your base-station(s), sudden loss of speed, frequent disconnections.

If you have a specific technical problem that you think forumites can help you solve, it is best to post in another thread in this forum - it will help keep this thread focused on problems which are beyond the control of iBurst customers to solve.

Regards

ic.

PS: To WBS - please add an instant email subscription to this thread so you can keep yourselves informed of problems that your customers are experiencing. Thanks.

No connection since yesterday night

WBS,

I just spent 30 min on your HellpDesk line with none of your staff answering my call. Therefore, I am forced to write on this forum to air my questions. Why haven't you delivered services as agreed by contract on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd of June - where speeds on your network were horribly slow? Why have I been denied connection to the network for 9 hours on 4th June 2005 (from approx. midnight to approx 9 am)?

fairlady - sorry to hear this. Just for general forum info, what area/tower region are you in? (Havent heard of any other people disconnected for so long) Also, had you used your 'cap' up?

LoneGunman,

I am in Linden Ext (Northcliff tower). The error when attempting to connect since last night was something along the lines of "The remote computer is not responding" -- didn't take down the full error info.

No, I haven't used my cap. 2.78 GB left.

Also, if it helps - with or without antenna - my signal strength does the limbo - from 0 to 100% for the past week or so.

Disconnections this morning

Who else is experiencing disconnections this moring...

According to WBS website, JHB radio network is on DEGRADED status.

I am being kicked off iBurst roughly every 3 minutes.

Come on WBS, fix it already I need to work...dammnit

Kei - I think the same is happening to me except I am in Cape Town and my router automatically reconnects.

Something has changed since the end of May, and since I have not recieved a reply from WBS in regards to the email I sent them I am forced to post here.

Up until the 30-5-05 the speed was good and I was happy, then I was capped which I accept as I had reached the 3g hi-speed limit, but when the cap was lifted on the 1-6-05 I noticed that the speed was eratic and is still bad.

So if any WBS staff read this form please get your act together and sort out this problem.

Seems to be back up right now, but still not as fast as it was last month.
Also some webpages timeout with the first try, as though the modem has to "wakeup" first.

well, the disco lights thing has started here with me now....

all signal LED's extinguish, and the signal light turns orange, then they all turn on again and the signal LED goes green. What I have noticed is that the data transfer does not stop at all, all I get is a reduction in speed....

comments, please

NNTP server

It would be nice to have access to an nntp server again. With the changes in IP address allocated to iBurst users the UUNET nntp server returns; "502 You have no permission to talk."
