Principle Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Development team to bring new software releases to production more effectively
- Deploy OSS tools for use within the Cloud Operations group
- Manage a highly-scalable and high-availability platforms
- Collaborate with developers to bring new features and services into production
- Assist mitigating security threats to comply with strict security compliance
- Follow design documentation where required
- Ensure close collaboration between Development and Operations, enabling smoother operation between teams
- Background in Operations, System Administration, Site Operations or DevOps
- Monitoring systems - Cacti, Nagios, Splunk, Spiceworks, Zenoss, FusionReator
- Strong Linux skills - Ubuntu / Debian - Redhat / CentOS
- Windows skills: Windows / Windows Server
- Lateral thinking, reverse engineering, good at problem solving
- Obsession for good documentation: using wiki to log changes
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language
- Experience with networking technologies - NFS - iSCSI - Samba - LDAP - DNS - rsync - Load Balancers - SSL off-load
- Virtualisation technology - VMware - Hyper-V – Xen – KVM
- Web technologies: Apache, IIS
- Agile / Scrum Development
- Configuration management tools - Chef / Puppet
- Caching Technologies - Memcached - Couchbase - Varnish
- You’ve built monitoring for production infrastructure
- Experience supporting Development teams using JSon, REST, Soap, XML, Ajax
- MySQL and MSSQL DBA skills
- Knowledge and experience of working with package management systems like RPM, .deb, etc
- Experience of working/transitioning to a continuous deployment strategy
- Experience with Security Audits - Penetration tests - Security certifications - ISO 27000 / PCI
- Programming skills and have strong interest in DevOps, Systems Engineering or Build and Release Engineering
Terms and Conditions:
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience (R280 000 CTC)
Hours: Mon to Fri 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
Probation Period: 3 months
Notice Period: 1 month
Holidays: 20 days per annum, 22 days after 2 years, after that 1 day per year up to 25 days max
