Junior Java Developer 12-15K per month

Hello the Forum,

My client, a listed online gaming software development house on the west coast area of Cape Town, has a permanent, full-time position open for Junior Java Developers.

I am interested in having a conversation for anyone who has completed studying, with high marks, and looking for a first or second job.

Please contact me via PM if you're interested

For a junior with no experience? What is the going rate, please? I don't generally recruit juniors at all :wtf:

For a Junior with no experience i think that's decent, to think what i started out with.

A Junior Dev doesn't necessarily have no experience... I did work during my degree which gave me a lot of experience and exposure. I wouldn't (and didn't) take anything less than 12-15k starting.

Thank you so much for the feedback, I will speak to my client and give him the feedback. I may change or delete the thread, based on his feedback. :D

So, what would the salary expectation 'on the ground' be for a Senior then? (totally off topic, but I'm a researcher, I like following the burrows)

Just my opinion.
Paying anyone with skills, less than R12k is an insult. But ja, this is SA IT industry, wants to pay the cheapest possible price.
Salary conforms to the old adage "you get what you pay for"

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment. However, as you say, it IS the SA It industry and in Cape Town you also pay the @ lifestyle tax' That being said, I would have been the MAN or in my case, the woman) if I got a salary of 10k with no other work experience but that as student. (My very first salary was R2.50 an hour in the 90's ). I am a freelancer, when I do have to get someone in to assist in whatever it is they should, I pay them more than what they quote me.

But unfortunately business is business, and if you need a job, or experience, any foot in the door is enough, because - the expert was always once a beginner :)

Unpossible.

 (never heard of Poison Ivy) ---> batman fangirl!

You work for the Government tender processing centre?
Hahaha! Nope, otherwise I would have my own little gravy train! I just firmly believe in integrity as the first rule of business, I don't even sign contract with my clients. I haven't been cheated yet, and my clients are very loyal to me too - I don't wait for my money. I love conducting my business in this way :D
