A company in Sandton* is currently looking for* a* Junior Support Technician to provide technical support to our customers, they* will need deliver effective solutions to our clients while also supporting a wide range of technologies, from Windows / MacOS and Linux infrastructures
Own Transport Essential as you will be required to visit client sites on a daily basis

Essential Functions:
*** Contribute to the* handling of all levels of technical support cases from basic user questions to issues requiring more in-depth technical and problem solving skills
*** Independently diagnose and resolve problems
*** Follow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues
*** Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
*** Ensure proper recording and closure of all issues
*** Design, define and document support processes
Desired Skills and Experience:
*** 1+ years doing* technical support in storage or backup
*** Must have outstanding problem solving skills
*** Must have good technical knowledge Cloud Solutions and Linux / Firewalling and ipTables

Minimum level of education = Grade 12 / College Diploma

Technical skills and knowledge required

·******** Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system and its components.* This includes troubleshooting via the event logs, understanding how to acquire crash dumps and application dumps, making registry changes etc.,
·******** Knowledge of networking and troubleshooting connectivity, name resolution, and performance-based issues with OS and/or hardware,
·******** Understanding of Backup Theory,
·******** Practical Microsoft Office skills.
Advantageous skills include:
·******** Linux knowledge or experience,
·******** SAN, NAS and Tape device knowledge or experience,
·******** Teamviewer,
·******** Microsoft Office 365, Google Apps

Competencies required
First Line Support Engineers must have:
·******** Strong customer relations skills,
·******** Strong written and verbal communication skills,
·******** Ability to multi-task,
·******** Strong time management skills,
Qualifications required
·******** An IT degree is advantageous, but not required. A + / S + CompTIA Qualifications
Experience required
First Line Support Engineers must have:
·******** At least 1 year of technical server support experience.
