Hi all ADSL experts!

I am looking into getting ADSL set up for my home computer. Having read some of the posts here, and due to $$ constraints right now, I will probably start off with the Home DSL192.

What I would like to know is this – what is the best modem for home use (only 1 PC) and what are some of my ISP options (my current one doesn’t offer a ADSL service). I will not be doing huge downloads, so won’t require a huge cap – just need something that is quicker than my slow dial-up and need to have constant access.

Thanks for the advice.

yeah home dsl is more than adequite for the simple surfer...
You will get download speeds of 20KB/s consistantly, not bad.
I definately recommend axxess for your ISP,
heres there prices:

3 GB = R249
5 GB = R279
10GB = R379
20GB = R479
30GB = R570

The 5GB cap will be more than enough if you are not a power downloader.
Billion and Netgear routers seem to be the best, not to sure on the specs though but im sure sum1 will enlighten you. I got the telkom marconi one and it also works well.

Probably the best value for money for you would be the axxess 5Gig account in terms of the ISP portion of your adsl.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. So the starting price per month for any sort of ADSL is around R500 – right? Hellkom indeed!!

Cheers.

for 192 and 3GB cap
R329+R250= R579!!!

the line rental is going dont next month though, i think it will be R279 instead of R329
