Just a general question for all Saffas

I’m just genuinely curious about this. In almost every thread you see on MB that talks about criminality, politics and the state of the country, or even simple concepts, such as poverty and education, there is always a huge amount of racism simmering within threads and comments. Sometimes the racism is so overt you wonder whether people would ever be this brazen if it wasn’t online. I suppose my question is, why do so many people just purely hate black people?

People died during Apartheid. Families were wiped out. Culture was destroyed completely. Entire swathes of the population was denied any right to being an actual human being. And you still hate these very people who now suffer through chronic poverty and lack of opportunity? I’m just astounded at how much hate can be garnered in a single person to hate an entire race. Many people on here constantly calling black people “savages”. Literally branding black people’s plight in poverty as an irritation to be dealt with harshly, as in black people should know their place and that by the right of white people they deserve less because “they’re less than human” and that somehow all this hate, founded in misguided beliefs and an intense desire to hoard all opportunity and resources for themselves somehow makes them better human beings? It’s disgusting. White people think it’s okay if a struggling white graduate gets support, but a black graduate must be dumber, less educated and hence “market forces” have determined they are not good enough for a job. Yet, you are here in Africa! How hypocritical!

I don’t think anyone can understand what black people went through except black people. White people are militant in their hate just at the prospect of integrating black people into the economy, now imagine your entire livelihood being stolen and having absolutely no rights or citizenship in the country you were born in? Anyway, I’m just putting this out there. And yes, I am a biracial Saffa. I’ve seen both sides of this country. I’m really curious as to how anyone can defend such intense hate and still call themselves human, never mind South AFRICAN!
 
Our domestic grew up in and finished school during apartheid.
Here’s what she’s told us numerous times:
1. Hospitals under apartheid: far better, cleaner and effective than now.
2. Schools under apartheid: far better education. She got Bantu education and said she learnt far more than her daughter is being taught now - and that’s when teacher actually decides to pitch up.
3. Safety under apartheid: she never felt unsafe in her area
4. Food under apartheid: while she didn’t have luxuries she never felt like her family would be starving.

Was she perfectly happy under apartheid? No. She had a lot of bad things happen too.

But by all definitions she, an African woman from South Africa - is racist against her own race.
She has nothing good to say about her own people. She said there’s so much crime, theft, disregard for own race, and bleak outlook for the future that she actually misses those days before..

So many here don’t hate another race. All they’re tired of is how far gone this country is at the hands of the very people who fought to have it returned to them and were supposed to carry out the legacy of Mandela - which was for blacks and whites and all other races to live peacefully and equally. But instead it has become a place of grand theft at anyones expense, same race or not.

It’s not a rant - it’s pointing out the difference between how people equate hate of poverty with hating an entire race. And if you can’t understand the nuance, I feel extremely sorry for you, since you must be very narrow-minded in your beliefs. Whenever there is theft or looting or whatever it may be, it seems there is a genuine consensus to label all non-white people as “savages”. Yet, somehow white people in South Africa do not see their own forefathers as savages for killing and enslaving people who just didn’t look like them. How does that make any sense? You can isolate a thief for being a thief, but when you bring race into the equation, is that serving self-justification to reinforce racist beliefs? Or not?

1. Could you point out these threads of blatant racism.

2. It would be better if you called them out in the thread and take the bulls by the horn, all you doing is starting a fight.

3. I grew up in poverty. I realised early on that there was no-one who was coming to save me. I paid my own way through university. No loans, no hand outs etc. Plenty of real sacrifices to get where I am. Lack of opportunity? I dont believe it. Case in point: how many in the past years have matriculated with a 60% average as compared to a 30% average pass mark. Resources were scarce when I went to my township school, even then students attitude to education were appalling. **** if you ever have to see what results are submitted on Higher Education Institutions applications you will quickly realise that the above average will definitely get access to opportunities. NSFAS is a thing now, they even convert part of the loan to a bursary if you successful. The truth is the sooner, a person realise it is a competition for the game changing careers (S.T.E.M), the better, and that means Maths. But I get it only you have the patent for poverty, crime and suffering. And all people regardless of actual ability deserve to be rich. They should just get paid a R1 million plus per annum. By doing this, there will be no poverty right?

4. Yes, Apartheid was terrible. But the sooner you accept that no-one is going to change your life for you, the better off you will be. Life is not fair. You were dealt a crap hand. You just need to work harder to get ahead in life. Maybe if South Africa held the ANC accountable for its f@#K ups, the chronic poverty and lack of opportunity would have been significantly less. But hey, it can never be our choices, it must be some one else. And white people must be the reason for the continuation of the cycle of poverty. The shedding of 2 million jobs during the lock down is the white man fault because of apartheid. The Load Shedding Debacle which is causing people to currently retrenched is also white peoples fault.

5. It is a pity you refuse to hold ANC Accountable as well. For some reason, being ANC, means you get to steal, lie and be incompetent with impunity as it is appears to be acceptable behaviour to the majority judging from the voting pattern

6. What is a biracial SAFFA? SAFFA is a term I only heard used by whites South Africans? Are you a confused coloured?

And this is why I am not in SA ........ because apparently I would be a disgusting braairacial Suffer .....

As I have said plenty on the forums - race in SA - we just cant let it go. Case in point .....

Unfortunately, they hide behind ambiguity most of the time, even though I've also seen a lot of overt stuff. It's quite disgusting actually. I don't know whether it's complete and willful ignorance, but it also seems to go hand in hand with a lot of other bigotry.

I try to stick to the threads where I can learn things about technology, finance, etc. instead or I always feel like I've stumbled into an echo chamber of 'round the fire men's talk'.

We have MUCH better things to talk about instead of sad losers like you, believe me.

Whites are called savages here as well if they act like savages. Those wearing race tinted glasses just can't see it.
