just burnt another sub

Coils were gone on 2 of my kicker subs. they r in for repairs, just dont have the cash to get them from the shop. today I am playing some three6 mafia, not for long too, maybe 4 or five mins, "Late night tip" comes on and after a few seconds i smell something burning. I pull over and theres smoke coming out the port.

I am now quite annoyed. R250 to R300 a shot for coil replacement. thinking of going for something else. I got about 700rms at 14v and 1 ohm to be utilised. any thoughts? max budget R1000.

What amp you running? I know of a monster sub going for 2.5k Sounstream R1,its 850rms at 4ohms

calibra digi1250. just had that repaired as well. i said max budget R1k. I may get murdered for spending that much. besides i wont get that much from the amp at 4 ohms. or is it DVC 4ohms down to 2ohms?

If you're constantly blowing subs like that... you need to look at your system... it was obviously setup by an idiot.

Well the previous burn out was a problem with the amp-it had a factory fault and burnt the coils. this time around I think i pushed the sub too hard at too low a freq. Gains have not been tampered with. Plus the sub is over 8 years old.
