just created a bridged router with dd-wrt...

on a cisco / linksys E1500. took about half an hour as a noob and it was all set up, without needing to touch my primary ap.
saved me having to buy a dedicated "bridging router", and there's some nice little goodies on the firmware too.
kudos to http://www.dd-wrt.com for some nice work. i love it when open source works.
i now have wifi with a decent signal upstairs & downstairs, on the same subnet, using the same dsl connection.
why doesn't cisco just provide this functionality out of the box? i guess i know why.

Could you please explain how you did it as I have an extra Netgear router with DD-WRT firmware that I want to use with my TV.

yip. the one i ended up using was
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge

basically do the fw update, do all your fiddling via lan cable, as per above tut and apply settings.
if anything goes wrong, do a hard reset and redo the settings.
for some reason updating the fw initially blocked the lan ports, so i had to telnet in via wifi and reset the nvram.
just search the dd-wrt forums if you get stuck.
