Damn, second time this year ... boots into BSOD. The fixing process starts again!

And ||s images are probably the easiest to back up too. :o

Good luck.

It is actually ... burn one file to a DVD :)

The last time I had this issue I learned the hard way! I made a backup of the VM right after installing all my needed Apps and XP patches, and burned it to DVD. I also learned that time that there are some key points to check first:

1. Boot into repair console from the XP disk
2. Run chkdsk /R
3. Run fixboot
4. Run fixmbr

Turns out my boot sector was corrupt, and I had a couple of "floating files" on the drive.

After step 4 I booted into XP perfectly ... took me about 35 minutes to get it sorted.

In the same time I decided to give the final release of Fusion a proper try ... so we'll see how that goes

Oh, as to the actual problem ... I have this funny suspicion the drive gets too hot (this is the 100Gb in the ViPowER FW case) and then shuts down ... to revive the XP VM, I remove the FW cable and plug it back in ... normally it works, but sometimes (like yesterday) it doesn't :(

It normally dies right after intensive disk usage (exporting huge amounts of data from M$ systems) and the case feels piping hot.

So glad my 500Gb External is running in a fan cooled case! :p

Lol, who is right? ;) How does Fusion compare to Parallel? Does Fusion support any operating system or just XP?

You can make screenshots of the ||s screen, but no system snapshots like in Fusion ... Please, oh pretty please tell me how to do it in Parallels bwana ... oh, I am not on the latest ||s release, so I might be wrong

Fudzy ... have a look here
Keep in mind this was not with ||s version 3 .. can't comment on that release

I tried both, preferred fusion so I bought that. It supports other OS's other than windows. I mainly use it for Linux VMs

I needed the space for photographs so archived the ||s disk image in case I ever need it. . . . I still need more space. :o
