Hey All,

Just started WOW this weekend, so far enjoying it.

I am a level 15 Dwarven Mage.

I am just struggling with Damage, is there anyway to upgrade spells or increase the damage of my spells?

Advice please.

Gear, gear, gear. What server are you on?

As a Mage, your number 1 stat to level is Intellect. It increases your spellpower and critical hit chance.

I play a Priest and my critical stat is spirit, but I prefer intellect as it makes my buffs and heals stronger.

Any wow class only really starts taking shape from level 20 and on. Most other classes and Mage's you'll find out there leveling these days will be alt's with BOA gear so you will have a hard time keeping up with them.

Don't worry so much about the dmg. Level and enjoy the 1st experience.

What the others said... gear! at lvl15 you should be able to use the random dungeon finder but thats not 100% advisable for a n00b. If you can get a few friends/guildies to take you through a couple of dungeons (like RFC or DM) and teach you how to behave in a group it would be great.

Will speak to the guys in the guild I joined :p

None of my mates play WoW.

Well as a Mage, his only role is going to be pretty much DPS only.

@Deadmanza, your task is then to attack AFTER the tank pulls the aggro, otherwise you pull the mobs onto you and get ass raped if the healer is less than half awake.

I've had numerous DPS players die on me being a priest because they ran ahead of the tank and pulled large amounts of mobs.

If you refering to dmg increase, I assume you struggle then to kill the mobs in time questing? IMO you prob should / are frost specced to aid in this, and if not mistaken is the "best" dps spec till you have really good gear where fire shines.

Not to relevent at the moment, but head over to icy-veins to at least see if you follow the correct rotations which will aid with your dps, although you will not have all the spells yet. :)

Ah ok that I figured out fairly quickly :p

Thanks for the help :D

Head over where? Icy-veins?

I am fire spec at the moment, how can I respec?

Unless they changed something since I last played your spirit only counts for hit as a dps spec. In heal spec your heals are stronger with intelligence and spirit is for mana regen.

That ought to do it. :)

Chat to your friendly class trainer and cough up a few copper/silver for a respec. You play a dwarf (how anyone can play Alliance beats me!), so your most convenient mage class trainer is most likely this one.

Still the case, but only for intellect DPS/healer classes (priest, druids, shamans -- obviously, non-caster druids/shamans don't get any use from spirit). The pure DPS casters (mages and warlocks) don't get any benefit from spirit, and should leave those pieces of gear alone for their friendly neighbourhood healers to pick up.

Of course, in a DPS spec, spirit is only good until the spell hit cap is reached; any additional spirit thereafter is wasted itemization. (Thankfully, hit/expertise caps are disappearing in WoD.)

Assuming that you are going to your trainer to buy your skills as you level up, then yes it's just an issue of gear.

Ah!! How I love to raid!! All my raids I lead have a 94% success rate :D

You don't even need to do that any more: spells get learned automatically as you level. I can't remember whether that change came in Cataclysm or MoP, though I suspect the former.

The issue is the right gear, though. I remember back in Burning Crusade, when I started on a huntard: I kept on running out of mana (yes, hunters used mana back then), so I got intellect gear for it. That did sweet bugger all for aforementioned mana issues because things refused to die. Took a while to work out that I actually needed agility gear... :)

just get to level 90. All the advice on sites like icy-veins is only relevant at max level. At lvl 15, don't even think about dps at this stage.

Take tailoring now. Get to lvl 90, take jewelcrafting, go to Timeless Isle, get tailoring epics, welfare epics, queue for in LFR. pew-pew. Jewelcrafting and tailoring is good for cloth dps.

I'm also a new player, just hit 90 recently and now I'm doing some of the end-game stuff, particularly Isle of Thunder which I'm really enjoying.

Quick question: I currently play a windwalker monk and am looking to pick up a second character (druid healer most likely). How screwed will I be if I use the instant 90 boost considering that I've never played a healer before? My gut tells me that I shouldn't start at max level because I'll have no idea what I'm doing haha
