O my gosh ...

What a week. Firstly, I spent a week trying to get Telkom to upgrade my ADSL line from the 384 to the 512 option. Actually it was 48 Telkom hours. I say this since they define 48 hours as "48 working hours" ... HAHAHAHa ... That is a LAUGH!!!

Anyway... I was getting a VERY STABLE download speed (local and international) of 42 KB/sec ... 340 k/s (on my 384 line ... I was HAPPY)

Now, since the upgrade, guess what I am getting???

42 KB/sec ... 340 k/s (this time on my 512 line)

Q: Should I accept this as an upgrade?

Q: Should I be getting better speeds?

Q: Why don't I just downgrade to the 384 option again if I will not see a MARKED inprovement in the performance ???

Any ideas ???????

I think u might have gotten 512k on ur 384k :-) jk

but 42k/s stable on 384k is a dream these days, its more around 38k/s stable up to 40k/s burst.

Hehe usually the increase takes a few days, but im of 384k and I get 52kb/s so.........
Maybe if you downgrade, they will up the speed to 512k an put you back on 384k pricing :)

Lately i am getting download speeds of 40kb/s on a 192 line.
Dont ask me how. :D

me 2,

I also manage to download at 40kB/s on DSL192

But, that just means I'm getting to my cap alot quicker!!!

LOL

AFAIK they set the speeds at the DSLAM. Thus if a techie is not in your area, you are effectively speeding along at the old speed until someone gets around to it.

:D

these 40 your getting on 192 is that for like more than a minutes or does it start at 40 then drop to 38 36 34 etc or is constint?

Telkom doesnt set the dslams from 512k on the other packages instantly, in neighbourhoods like Durbanville etc. they seem to still know whats going on and set these things the day you install it :(

Other than that, stop posting these higher speeds on lower packages. Im sure you dont want telkom to read this and impliment stronger measures :D
