After the silo collapsed, the national power usage changed to red, according to www.poweralert.co.za

Then, with the so-called "unforeseen circumstances", it changed to black.

Now it is back to red. Are they running those diesel turbines to generate base load, or did they resolve some of their "unforeseen circumstances"?

 And no news is forthcoming from those clowns either.

Eskom seem to be farming mushrooms, or at least they are treating us as though we were mushrooms.
Keep us in the dark, and feed us ****.

Are they running those diesel turbines to generate base load
We've been using peaking gear for to patch the holes in base load for a couple of years now but lately its been getting out of hand.

With regard to the open-cycle gas turbines Eskom planned to utilise the diesel gobbling units 11% of the time, measured over a week. Due to the tightness of the system this increased to 37%,
In the past three weeks however the [pump storage] schemes were run virtually from 6:00 to 20:00. Towards the end of the week Eskom ran out of water to release, since there wasn’t enough time to pump it back.

Also it is apparently now official policy to focus blackouts on residential customers rather than industry:

households rather than industry will bear the brunt going forward.

Meaning...expect many dark Saturdays & Sundays. I guess braais will become more popular...

They follow the cANCer cadres and have hidden agendas and only crisis manage the parastatal.

One thing they ARE doing if F'ing this country and all who pay for the product they make but don't want us to use.

Privatise the bloody thing, all that will stop this utter nonsense! And the cANCer can go twiddle their thumbs anywhere and congratulate themselves on something good they did. Maybe. Not.

Was it not in Hitler's days, that you got shot for not helping to build the economy and the growth of the nation?

The problem in South Africa is not technology or structure, it's social. Unfortunately there are no known cures for social issues that are not either aggressive or humane. Basically the country has developed a case of social cancer and the only cure could be worse than the disease.
