Really, if the country had only two options or was stuck with these two figures, Jacob Zee or T-bone, which would you prefer..

Please don't say none since you know the country needs a president. Answer must be either of the two!~~ more like a vote thingy

If I had to choose one, I'd say Zuma, mostly because I feel that it's about time for change. Things have been stagnant for far too long and T-bone hasn't accomplished much, he spends more time listening to pleas from other countries than he does his own people. What's more is his cabinet sucks, they're too delayed when it comes to serving the people, and he refuses to take action in the wake of their repeated failures and blunders.

Basically I would say that this is more of a vote against Mbeki rather than one for Zuma.

I would have to agreee ^^^. Change is good and I think Zuma will tackle issues that Pres. Mbeki failed to do. I also believe that if Zuma runs for Pres. alot of people will vote against him, voting for the opposition, creating a stonger opposition. Dont think it will be a huge amount of change in the voting but a change non the less.

BTW: great thread. keen to see what every one has to say.

JZ, reason being : Thabo has proven himself as a worthless leader.
Your choices are : continue being a crap country that is falling apart
OR
take the gamble, and either JZ improves us or destroys us within a term.

I choose the latter

so : guaranteed destruction, or chance at improving or destruction

JZ has benefitted greatly from the anyone but Mbeki sentiment that is sweeping the country

Zuma, I think, may be better at getting good advice, unlike Mbeki, who always knows best.

I'll vote for Obama, but than I will be on the other side of the planet by the time any of these guys reach that voting point.

JZ would probably be my vote though... If I could vote here and forced to vote ANC. Mbeki has largely been a failure. ;)

Catch 22!

Mbeki betrayed all the people of this country (yes me included) - for lots of reasons... I think lack of "stepping up" and taking responsibility is the biggest at this point. So NO vote for him.

Zuma portrays himself (without shame) as the biggest idiot alive. The man does not even have matric - and through his actions suggests that it is "ok" to rape and just take a shower to not contract any disease - nevermind mentioning the pending fraud cases against him - although yes again a fraud case is a prerequisite to be in the ANC government...

So to the point - using some inhumanely method like chinese water-torturing to force me to make an "X" it will probably next to Zuma - since we know he doesnt have long to go (I "believe" / know that an shower does not cure aids and since he confessed - well chances of him having it are pretty good) - although I suppose a year is enough to nicely destroy SA - again a catch 22... Aaarg... Hmmm... Next question please?

Anyone read the Sunday Time article by Bullard (see link http://www.thetimes.co.za/Columnists/Article.aspx?id=706801)

He basically talks about the hypocrisy of government insisting that people be qualified to do a job e.g. if you wanna be a Neurosurgeon you probably need to do a MBCHB as a min or you wanna build a dam you probably need some degree in civil eng, etc

So spot the obvious mistake? He states: "most of the Cabinet and the newly appointed NEC would fail a simple questionnaire on how an economy works, how profits are made and how jobs are created...So my suggestion is that politicians should be made to sit an exam set by the people to establish their suitability for office"

So my vote (if I have to choose) is probably T-bone, between the 2 he's probably the only one that will pass the exam...better the devil you know :p

Zuma - for Mbeki to be SA's president for a third term there would need to be a constitutional amendment and that would worry me more than anything.

Interesting. So given the way people voted here, Zuma FTW? Now it's easy to see why he triumphed in Polokwane ;)

Well, considering Thabo's track record, a change will be good.

JZ as president will, IMHO, be make or break for SA. He's either going to get things going back on track, or mess it up totally.

I'm hoping it's the 1st one.....
