K-word costs Aussie

According to one forumite during that discussion, White people in SA consider the M-word racially offensive but are not offended by it. K-word is racially offensive and offends most Black people in SA.

So the K word is racially offensive am i correct in saying this? what was your point again? White people do not get offended by much because we have never had to take the racial abuse where as blacks have been racially abused for decades. So you can understand why the K word would offend blacks right?

What M word?
mlungu - some whites people here find it offensive.
btw, the word is used too in reference to any succesful person regardless of color. it is being used to refer to someone who employs or can potentially employ you.

:D LOLZ! So it's a compliment. :D

Funny how I can call you a child rapist, idiot, jerk, useless waste of air.
I can insult you because you are stupid, I can insult you because you are new [****ing noobs!], I can insult you if you are poor. I can call you a carrot top, and insult your parents. I can imply you're sleeping with your mother [mother ****er]. I can call you emo.

There are millions of ways I can insult you, your family, your history... but heaven forbid I refer to the colour of your skin?

:erm: Could it be because there hasn't been discrimination based on stupidity, colour of hair etc in the past? There has been wide spread racial discrimination & racist comments tend to perpetuate that. Also most of the other insults are behaviour / trait based (idiot, jerk etc), not characteristic based. You can do something about idiocy, you generally can't do anything about your race (unless you're Michael Jackson).

Even thoughMJ looks white we all know he is black so i dunno who is trying to fool.

He looked far better black anyhow, now you see there is a guy who sets a poor example for blacks. He would rather his nose fall off and cannot go into the sun all because he wanted to be white. Dumbass.

I see your point but he didn't want to be so much white as he wanted to be Elizabeth Taylor..... and i think he would have gone green if he had to:D

Of course there's racism against white people, they just don't give a crap and make such a big deal about it.

Ps. That's the first link provided by Bing

Messugga, if you actually read the article you'll realise that it was a BLACK player who was abused, and the commentator is just saying that because HE thinks it wouldn't be a big deal if a white player was racially abused, it shouldn't be a big deal that the black player was abused.

Totally the opposite of what you're trying to prove.

Why oh why would anybody want to be Elizabeth Taylor? She old & wrinkled, man.

Enough of the thread jack, let's get back to the topic at hand, namely why a lot of white people (who have never really suffered discrimination) think that when black people (who have mostly at some point suffered discrimination, often also accompanied by the same slurs such as the k word and n word ) get offended by those words, they're making a mountain of a mole hill.

90% of the criminals in SA are blacks yes. That is no racist dig but fact unfortuntaley.

That's factually incorrect actually... Looking at prison states, it's 80% that are black which fits in line with 79% of the SA population being Black. But it's well known (and there is a paper to support this) that in SA it's easier to get off a crime if you've got money and/or education. Which makes it easier for Whites and Indians to get off apparently. Strangely enough, Coloureds seem to get caught the most...

In the US, the minorities make up the majority of the prison population.
The numbers suggest it is mostly the poor & marginalised who do the most crime (or who get caught anyway).

The racial behavior that accompanied the k-word when used against me has lead to me finding it racially offensive. For this reason, I understand why the k-word offends black people.

What I did not understand during previous discussions, is the hypocrisy in White people pretending to find the M-word not offensive and often endearing when they actually find it as offensive as the k-word. In fact, the use of the m-word is allowed by the moderators.

What white people find that word offensive? Before today i had never even heard of it.

I think white people like to claim words that may offend them to defend racial abuse towards the black population, why people defend racists is beyond me. I think people who defend racism are a bunch of idiots who are more than likely racist.

The poor and marginalised can't afford good lawyers, so not only do they do most of the crime but when caught are a lot more likely to end up incarcerated.

If you also look at policing as a volume based business (apprehend, convict), it makes a lot of sense to police the crimes that are easiest to convict, which would be the ones most likely to be committed by the poor and marginalised.

Unless the crime is particularly bad or gains publicity / notorierity, white collar crime (often the domain of the more successful) is not going to get much police attention.

Racism, sexism and any other -ism based upon unalterable physical characteristics is just plain stupid, and if any practitioners are insulted then they're getting what they deserve. I'm with killa on this.

I never heard of it myself until last week.

So, this means when I refer or call another Black person "Mlungu wam", I'm often offending them even though they find it endearing and complimentary.

O here we go again - a black gets called a racist name and it makes news headlines, but the blacks attack, rob, steal and murder on a daily basis and you don't see not even half of this in the news that is how common it has become. Unreal really.

what has this to do with racial abuse when the same criminals you refer to also do the same to the black population?
