K3565 expert advice needed

I've got a K3565 thats not working on 2 pc's and a laptop, but on one, and only the one, other(3rd) pc it works like a dream. I've called 155, maar nou ja!

The two pc's on which it doesn't want to work are used a lot for testing modems. There-after the software are removed, incl out of the registry, program files, phones & modems, network connections, and the pc restarted. Turned off the firewall and anti-virus. On my pc'c it loads, but just says searching for network. On the laptop it does a 'rolling back action'. Tried loading 9.4, it allows me to click connect, but times out after two minutes of trying to connect. Services pack 2 is loaded all round sbtw.

I would like to know if there's anywhere else I can remove the software from that might be causing the program to not load as it should. And why would it work on just one pc?

Mine won't work on LONG USB extensions. Just a thought. The supplied white one works OK.

I have had reports of this before!

It would appear that it's a bug with Windows XP rather than anything to do with the modem. The local PC tech called me with this problem a while ago and he called back saying that he had to resort to a full Windows XP restore! My only guess is that a Windows Update has been missed on the two laptops (often the case when they have only been used on dial up) concerned. You could try loading SP 3 but I'm not convinced it'll fix your problem??

Probably the least hassle route is to find a copy of XP with SP 3 included or install Ubuntu Linux!
