Hi peeps

So i have a customer moaning the she can not connect to vodacom at 3g/hsdpa on this unit anywhere.

I confirmed it by using my simcard in the unit at a spot where i know there is excellent coverage...only to get GPRS.

We decided to try the mobile partner firmware to try an MTN simcard in this - guess what - 3g/hsdpa works 100%

Even with the new firmware/dash - it detects VODACOM(2g)(3g) for signal but when you try to connect by using WCDMA only function - it doesn't go blue before or after...just blinks green and fixes to green thus gprs. It never switches over to 3g.

WCDMA preferred also gives gprs only. Her e220 works 100% with 3g setting and also with my vodacom simcard.

So we need to RMA/return this unit as a dud.

I cannot find the particular vodafone software that needs to be on that k3715 unit - as i reflashed it with the vodafone firmware but i cannot get a dashboard ?

any links anyone? :)

I also have a problem with the K3715 modem. I have installed the software that is on the modem and since then, my notebook hands most of the time. Before that I was using the E220 modem with no problem. Except for the odd disconnection every now and then. I am using Vista SP2 and what I did find is that there is a file that install from the
K3715 VMC Lite software called, DIBCOM - Other hardware, Streaming Media and Broadcast Devices - Dibcom DIB9080 dased TV Tuner device. Now I do not have a TV tuner and this file was installed from the K3715 modem. Microsoft do have an upgrade of this file on their update, but it fail to install. Since I have switched to the K3715, my notebook also does not log off. It will try log off, but does not complete the process. I have to do it manually, after that I can not switch start my notebook unless i disconnect the modem and only plug it in once the notebook have started. I have de-installed VMC Lite from this K3715 modem and have switched back to my E220 modem with Mobile partner and everything is working fine again. Does anyone have any Idea what the problem might be with the K3715 modem. I can not see any software for the modem on the Huawei site. What is the Model number of the K3715. I believe it goes under a different name.

Out of interest....why dont you uninstall any Vodafone related software from add/remove in windows, and then install the full VMC software that can be downloaded from link in my first post on this thread and see how that work? When you plug your K3715 in and it wants to auto run cancell it and use the VMC software instead.

have tried that method - yes it utilizes the VMC from the pc side - but i want to overwrite the software on the usb unit - incase the vodashop freaks out that i used mobile partner (which is imho 999999x better than VMC) and voids the warranty.

even with the latest vmc software i can only get gprs.

strange tho that the k3715 works 3g/hsdpa on mtn - but no 3g/hsdpa on vodacom while the e220 works 100% on both networks.

I have done as you explained here and I have no luck with this K3715 on Vista. Most of the tiem the device can not be seen or if it does, most of the time the modem hangs my notebook. I have downloaded software for the K3715 from Vodafone in the UK Full version 9.4.3.16284, but so far did not had the time to install and to test it. Will hope to give forther feedback once I had the guts to install it and try it out.

Well after trying all avenues that are available, I took the modem back to the shop where I have bought it and got my money back. Why? because when then manager of the store try to install it on they brand new notebook, he experience the same problems that I have discribed to him what happen to me. Even worse for him, his notebook keep on re-booting and most of the time the notebook does not detect the modem. There is something very serious wrong with this K3715 modem. He took a brand new one out of the store try to install that one from scratch and the same thing happen. Hehe. He is sending his whole stock back. Well now for me, I will stick to my trusted old E220 or use my cell phone as a modem. They both work well and do not have any problem.

I wanna ask one of my friends that is using the K3565 modem if I can borrow it for 5 minutes....wanna see if Linux Mint picks it up and if it works. Just out of interest. :)

weird thing tho for me is that the k3715 with mobile partner works 100% here on mtn...

but nothing on vodacom
