K4605 - Prepaid

I'm playing with one as I speak, using Cell C with MDMA (the new Beta).

It does work very well, but I wish that I could convert it to the generic equivalent, ie the E372.

I just don't know why Vodafone keeps going with this urge to downgrade all their modems ???

Because of all this cr@p it doesn't work properly in my TP-Link MR-4320 router.

Vodacom sells it for R1429.

OUCH!! that is a little rough, but as my K4505z has started acting up, I may as well get myself one :(

Not problematic like the K4505z I hope, have not seen any negative reports yet ....

Yes, but the firmware for the MR3420 is still quite unstable, and TP-Link don't appear to be doing anything about it.

I am actually in the market for a better router, but I don't see anything with a decent wifi range, that is stable, and that supports newer modems such as the K4605 / E372.

With the K4605 CD,DIAG,NDIS disabled, as show in the link. The modem does not need to do a modeswitch. And thus should work in any of the other routers. A plain simple AT command set modem. Yes I know not as plain as that, but the TP-LINK had no problems of picking up the modem.

With this work around, give it a try in other routers.

OK. I may just buy a Netgear MBRN3000 and try it with that.
