K800i advice required:

I have a SE K800i. Great phone. Never given issues.

Since new I've used the USB cable and bluetooth to connect the phone to my PC 1000's of times.

I recently tried to connect in 'File Transfer Mode' and the phone just reboots/resets itself into phone mode.

Any ideas what I can do to get into file transfer mode? I've searched the net but can't seem to find a similar issue out there.

I want to copy files from the phone to my PC and understand that phone mode is much slower than file transfer mode.

Have you tried the SE website to upgrade your phones firmware?

Its well worth a go! It fixed a few niggles I had with my K800i but be aware although no data is lost (unlike Nokia updates) the phone will reset so you'll have to reselect things like ring tones and themes...

Just make sure that Eskom doesn't have on their darkness schedule!

I had that same issue when I had the phone. Upgraded the FW, debranded the phone, but I never managed to get that sorted. Eventually I just used an adapter for the M2 card and stuck it in my PC, and copied stuff like that.
