Guys, I just returned from holiday and I got to report that the K800i mobile I got just days prior is absolutely great.

Got myself one of those bodyglove pouches (which I have found makes any old cellphone look great).

Took out some cool pics with it. Was really handy when I did not have my real camera handy ( like in the malls and on the beach sometimes with my kids). My sons had a great time with it listening to all their music.

Connecting it up to the internet was a breeze (took me like a few minutes) and managed to pay all my accounts online. That saved me!

Couple of things irked me though ( I wonder if anyone with the N73 can reply if it is common with the N73)

1. I could not force the flash ON like with a normal camera.
2. The speaker phone is not all that loud.
3. The jack of the earphone is not the ordinary headphone type but sony connector.
4. No memory came with the phone. I had to buy a 1 gig card separate.
5. for some reason i could not use the bluetooth 100% . Others could connect to me but I could not leech files from other phones ... guess I got to read the manual...
6. got to get used to CARRYING my phone around. my previous phone was hardly recognisable in my pair of Levi's.

I thought I'd list the negative so that people interested in this phone should know about it.

cheers

Yip you cant use the flash, it uses a xenon flash so that flash cant be kept on for long, I use the orange light as a torch.
The speakers at the back so if you in a busy area it can be hard to hear sometimes.
The ear phone jacks are standard SE jacks, but I use the W850 walkman jacks.
Bluetooth works very well on the K800, I think you tawt you could steal files, unfortunatley SE realised how dangerous that is and they stopped it, since the K700, that phones is still a menace out there but still rocks!
I hate Levis, rather wear Diesel!:p

well, maybe not the right place to post this, but i got my K800i in September - and im having hassles with it. Its gone once for software to a Vodacare, the joystick has a mind of its own, and recently when people call me, they cant hear the phone ringing from their side... but put my sim in another phone, its fine.

What firmware you got?
It should be R1DE001 if you have a Voda K800.

thanks ... just did it and notice that it is R1CE001 ... will go to vodacare to update.

Before you upgrade, check to see whether the latest firmware is OK. Many Sony owners have put on new software, only to find some things fixed and other bits broken. Check out the phone forums like ESATO.

I have the same firmware but never found any bugs??? Works totally fine with me.

What the firmware does, is make make everything better, like improve battery life, cam quality, iron out bugs, eg R1CE sometimes freezes, your applications dont save, and if im not mistaken there was some sort of 1 second delay when answering calls. I havent had any of these problems with that FW but it is a general problem.
Overall it makes your phone run much smoother, I saw the difference when I upgraded my K750 FW there was visible differences even in the walkman player the sound quality was much better, they also change the Fw eg to increase sms memory.

The problem with most phones today is the first FW that comes with the phone normally sucks, so a FW upgrade is necessary.
