Kai Cenat breaks Ninja's Twitch subscriber record

Twitch streamer Kai Cenat broke the record for most subscriptions on the Amazon Inc.-owned service Tuesday, with the number topping 300,000.

The 21-year-old rocketed to fame on the platform at a nearly unprecedented rate by live streaming Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V and chatting with his fans, who pay $5 to $25 to subscribe to his Twitch content.

Depends though; some channels have rewards attached too. Many bots due to that, but generally the new generations like to engage in this manner. I watch many tech, chess and esports streams.

Granted, when you say Chess & esports, to me it's no different than watching the Bokke play on Supersport for example.

But some random personality "just hanging out" playing video games? just doesn't work for me.
Each to their own I guess, perhaps people need the connection or something.

People watch Big Brother and all other kinds of reality shows of how people just do their normal daily things?
I don't really play games and are old. but during Covid I watched Lazarbeam with the kids, even live streams of him playing. I could not care about the game, but the guy is funny and entertaining,

I don't do that; at best I will watch a clip on Twitter.

Twitch does have a bot problem, but every service out there which is plagued with bots deny it to be an issue. They even use the bots to prop up their sub numbers... This isn't even including alts. When a streamer has a competition, users love to game it with alts and bots.

EDIT: Not to ignore that some streamers use bot services to up their own channel's attractiveness. This is seen on social media too.

That's $1.5m a month minimum... holy shyte. I do however doubt all subs are paying subs.

You would be surprised how entertaining it can be watching live game streams. The interaction, the discussions, seeing their frustrations, exhilaration and the likes. I enjoy watching twitch, even more so if it's an actual game you are into and play yourself.

Yes they're all paying. To be a sub on Twitch means you're paying.
Followers are the ones who don't pay.

Twitch takes their cut.

But also remember Amazon gives all Prime members that one free sub they can choose to give someone, but it still means that every sub means money received.

Never mind that streamers also make money through bit donations as well as direct donations through streamlabs.
