I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure where it should go, but recently (not as recently as I believe it should be if taking into account the time it has taken) I ordered a few things from Kalahari.net because I just didn't want to pay for delivery fees and seeing as I hoped that they would have good service (I know it's only an ideal in this country). I ordered an external hard drive, a notebook cooler (broken upon arrival, didn't even bother to try and return it, it is only a little pin) etc. I also ordered software on a different order, the software was ordered before the hardware, but I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. I used their on-site message thing to send them the following message on 20 July: "Good day, the usual delivery time for both of the items placed on 02 Jul 2011 and paid for by 05 Jul 2011 (not actual date paid, but actually the date on which it reflected)is "Usually within 8 working days". I'm just wondering how much longer I am going to have to wait for my order to arrive. I believe that this is poor service and that waiting for more then 2 weeks for a parcel when the delivery is a mere 8 days is unacceptable, even for South African standards. If this is the way in which you do business I do not believe that I will use your services again. And if the reason why I still haven't received my order is because the item has been ordered from the supplier, but still not received, then I believe you should try and make your delivery times more accurate, or rather just take the product off your webpage? I am looking forward to your response."

I still haven't received any response from them about said message or order. On the order number on the website it still states "ordered from supplier", but my question is: why on earth would they set a delivery date of "about 8 days" when this is the true time it takes? Why do they have products stating "out of stock" at all when it seems like all of their stock is out? And why do they not reply within 24 hours as stated?

So now I want to know, how many of you had bad experiences with them? How many of you were stupid enough to actually ever order something from them?

I won't call myself stupid for ordering from them.

I've ordered about 3 times in the past from them and received the goods in an acceptable time frame and nothing was damaged.

You should rather attempt to contact them by email. Your message isn't easy to read, so shorten the flack you give them and just ask what you need to know?

Ive shopped with them more than a few times and have had some issues before, but all in all Ive received decent service from them and I am confident to shop there again.

A few things to keep in mind:
1) They rely on a courier to get the items to you (most of my issues where courier related)
2) If Im not mistaken the 8 days are 8 working days
3) They dont always keep stock so they do have to source items. I guess they will say out of stock if they tried to source an item but failed.

Take terrasides advice, your mail was hellishly hard to read.

Maybe we can include comments about good service we received from them as well, just to be fair?

Kalahari sucks. I realised a long time ago that they don't want my business anymore.

Havent had any issues with Kalahari myself.

Many online retailers have similar issues with out of stock items - only after you have ordered do they advise its out of stock and needs to be ordered from the supplier - so its a common issue.

Hope you get your stuff soon.

Hmm, yes I might have been in a ranting mood.. And yes, the message might not be very well sequenced or paraphrased (I saw there was a limit to the amount of characters available) but I still feel that not even replying is not the answer. If they had replied to me in the first place, then I would've most likely felt better and patiently waited.. On the other hand, I haven't received any good service from them at all, so there is nothing to comment on in the area of "good service".

Anyway, this is most likely just another rant, seeing as I bought a Toshiba L675-119 a while ago, I've contacted the seller numerous times and I'm still waiting for my proof of purchase. Guess I'm just fed up with the service, or rather lack thereof in this country.

Your frustrations (while understandable) seem mischannelled to "this community" ... call them for more information, and return your broken goods.

Somewhat concerned about dealing with Kalahari. In the past there was only their store to buy from and I was actually satisfied with reliability etc. Now it seems when you buy you may not be dealing with Kalahari but some other dealer. Is Kalahari still the main dealer and are they responsible for shipping payments etc?

You can either purchase a product new from kalahari or new / used from a 3rd party seller on the site. Items from these sellers are identified as "marketplace" and the sellers name is listed. All sales / payments are through the kalahari site. If you purchase from a 3rd party, kalahari holds the funds in escrow until the buyer confirms receipt of the product.
