Kallie Kriel is the CEO of AfriForum. This organisation is the civil rights initiative established by Solidarity to encourage civil society – specifically minority groups who have withdrawn from public participation – to involve themselves in public debate. AfriForum also acts as a watchdog of constitutional and other civil rights.

AfriForum and Kallie have a high public profile and enjoy wide media coverage. This public profile stems from court cases and other peaceful protest actions against, among other things, Robert Mugabe’s abuse of power, crime, the violation of constitutional and minority rights, the controversial Expropriation Bill and political interference in sport. AfriForum also heads the Come Home campaign that offers free advice to South African expats who want to return to SA.

Kallie was part of the Dinokeng Scenario team who drew up future scenarios for South Africa. He also sat on a panel who discussed the scenarios at the World Economic Forum on Africa held in Cape Town.

On completion of his studies, Kallie was a teacher at Centurion High School for three years.

Kallie has been with Solidarity for the past 11 years and has held various positions, including Head of Marketing and Head of Member Benefits. He has dedicated his efforts to establishing and expanding AfriForum for the past four years.
