Cape Town - Jacques Kallis and Morne Morkel are the greatest gainers among South Africans on the latest ICC Reliance Mobile rankings following the Proteas’ victory over India by an innings and 25 runs in the opening Castle Test match at SuperSport Park on Monday.

Kallis and Morkel are ranked No 3 respectively in the latest batting and bowling rankings. Morkel’s rating of 768 is the highest he has ever achieved.

Other high ranked South African batsmen are AB de Villiers (5), Hashim Amla (9) and Graeme Smith (12).

Dale Steyn remains the No 1 ranked bowler and has opened up a gap of 55 points between himself and England’s Graeme Swann.

The Proteas’ victory over India was their first by an innings over these opponents on South African soil.

Nice :D

Our only weakness is our 3rd seamer and a quality spinner. That said I just read Smith's comments on Harris's contribution and he values him. Harris strikes me as the guy who does the dirty work in our team which allows the other players to flourish.

Who can catch Kallis as the world's top all-rounder.

statistically speaking no one will ever match his record. 10 000 runs, 250 wickets in both forms of the game plus he has over 270 catches in ODI's + tests. that record will stand forever.

Graeme Smith is at #12 with 762 points.

Thanks. Was just wondering where Biff was placed. He's good for the Top 10 too.

Chuffed to see the guys making there way up the chart. Just mustn't let it get to their egos.

I find it very strange that Chanderpaul is still in the top 10.

Agreed. He hasn't done much in ages. Always slow scoring. Makes decent scores every so often, but never at any great rate.

Yes, this is a weakness. But I think we have enough talent to nurture the right players to take up the mantle.

For me the need is to ensure that we have quality players coming through the ranks from schools, universities, club and provincial sides to keep pushing Steyn and Morkel to be their very best.

We need to start identifying possible candidates to take their place if somebody gets injured.

In the list, perhaps only Watson?
