I have a D Link 2740U router
I find that I loose the internet connection and have to reset the router at least three times a day. I simply turn the router off / on to reconnect!

What can cause this?

My guess is that it's some kind of power supply inconsistency. I get this with my Telkom Mega 100WR, where if the power dips or surges, or even when a UPS kicks in (the switchover time), the modem kinda freezes up and needs to be switched off and back on from the power source. My guess is that the transformer isn't too tolerant at keeping a regulated output voltage with this kind of unstable power input. Try using a surge protector. If that doesn't work, then use a line-interactive UPS that has good under/overvoltage protection with fast switchover time, or even better an on-line UPS.

Of course it could also be the router itself locking up (likely if it borks out up to 3 times a day as you say). Could be many possible reasons for this.. Is the cooling adequate? Try update the firmware as well...
