Im still using my 'xylo' branded keyboard thats like 14 years old. Its from the era before ps2 ports, i dont even know what thats called.it has a conversion plug to ps2. anyway, it still works but the keys have built up a bit of resistance. as my cheap R70 optical mouse of 4 years just died i decided that its time to get something new. i saw game is selling a logitech mk120 keyboard + mouse combo for R180 on special, IIRC. is it ok? im not expecting ultra performance but dont want ultra-crap. just looking for a plain vanilla m+k.

anything better in the <R200 price range? TIA!

I only buy logitech or microsoft KBs and mouse for every day use.

Batteries in the MK220 set last about three months for the mouse and up to six for the keyboard, so as long as you have rechargeable ones it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I don't like the new keyboard design though, tries to be too much like Apple's design and spaces everything a bit too close. The MK series has always had good quality, so no worries there. Another suggestion...

Microsoft Wired Desktop 400 @ R164 (not too bad, I've typed on it before and it is quiet-ish)

Tiny update for anybody who stumbles upon this:

what an improvement over my old keyboard! I can touch type at an avg of 75wpm+ last time i did a test (quite a while back), and its such a pleasure to use this kb. only thing i had to get accustomed to (took 10 seconds) was the left shift that was slightly smaller than my old kb because the logitech has an extra backslash key between the left shift and z. the mouse also works as well as anything ive used. havent gamed on it yet but im sure it will be fine. quality seems good.

this set is much better than a 'Genius' set i regularly use thats just a bit cheaper.

We recently purchased a bunch of these for our office machines, while they do feel a bit plasticky the keyboards do type well. Mouse is a bit too light for my liking, prefer wireless mouses which have added weight due to battery.

Must say I prefer Microsoft over Logitech although they aint too bad :)
