Hey there!

Soooo I managed to get my hands on two G15 keyboards this weekend along with a G5 mouse, all second hand.

I've now noticed that the keyboards are rather dirty & have a large build up of dust inbetween the keys.

Is there any way to clean my keyboard? I was thinking I could prize the keys out with a blunt object, but I'm not sure if these keys actually come off.

If anyone could help me out please, I'd be gratefull.

Secondly the G5 mouse didnt come with any weights, does anyone know where or how I can go about getting them?

Thanks!

compressed air works wonders. and a few toothpics to get the hair and grime out.

(IF u really want to u can give them a bath hehe. just make sure to let them dry properly before applying power to the.)Extremest.

Check on bid or buy maybe u can get the weights there, i think they did sell some weights separate when the mouse came out but not sure were.

Oooh never thought of compressed air! Thank you! I'm using cotton buds (much to my GF's dismay :o ) and they seem to be working well.

Although I'm now horrified as to HOW much dirt one keyboard can actually have.

I'll give BoB a check now. Thanks for ya help!

Normally, I'd put dirty keyboards in the dishwashing machine, on the quick cycle (basically, you want the lowest heat possible, and no rinse cycle). However, you have to be very careful to let them COMPLETELY dry. So, you'd leave them in a place where it can be thoroughly aired, and for about a week or so.

In your case, I would not recommend getting one of those keyboards wet, due to the fact that they're 1: Damn expensive ;) and 2: They have LCDs.

So, I'd say, remove all keys (should be safe enough). Wash the keys. Then clean those rubber membranes that sit under the keys + surrounding area on the keyboard manually (oh, the treachery :( , haha). Should be good to go then ;) .

That's just off the top of my head though, a Googly search may yield more fruitful answers.

Good luck and enjoy that neat equip ;) . I'm a raging Logitech fan myself.

if you remove the electronics you can put it in the dishwasher.

EDIT: you can also use alcohol to clean it.

Oh Wowsers, Dishwashing machine? Now thats a brilliant idea. Thank you! Would never have thought of that! I'll pop in a few of my older keyboards in there.

With reguards to removing the keys from the G15's, how do I go about doing so? Should I just pry & pick at them with a blunt object, or is their a particular method to do so? Any tips? :D

I've managed to clean down the mouse & have located cheap ballasts from a Hobby Shop online that should replicate (I'm hoping) the missing weights in my G5...
