Keyboard recommendations

@UrBaN963

You can check out the reviews,

at less than R800 it looks to be a steal.

No problem. Generally, I recommend Corsair or Logitech, but both are considerably more expensive. There are many other superb keyboards like Razer and many other outliers (Cougar is improving, Gigabyte is improving, etc.), but they aren't always accessible in the market here.

I like cheaper alternatives. I recommend Redragon to beginners, and now I see Gamdias is competing with them but also comparable to more expensive products. I bought the one I linked to be used to type on and going by the reviews I might try a game or two to see how well it responds.

My trusty G910 is still holding on strong, and I have noted that it is easily serviceable and can last much longer when regularly serviced. Going to order replacement G-Romer switches to keep as a backup when some switches eventually give in. My only problem is that it is too big, and I hardly require keyboard macros anymore.

Pending on how our wallets look by Black Friday (or whatever it is going to be called in the states now) I might get a new Logitech keyboard to game on. I see the new Logitech switches are convincing Cherry users over… I am still undecided on the GX switch. The Logitech G Pro (or Pro X) does seem like a bloody nice gaming keyboard.

Spacebar issue? A certain production series had a spacebar issue, but it was quickly resolved on Corsair's side.

I honestly can't even say what kind of issue it was, I just remember being very surprised that Corsair of all brands would have such an issue. It was a good 4 - 5 years ago.

I know the K63 had trouble. This is a time they sold like hot cakes, and many didn't last long.

I tested out the Gamdias Hermes P1 RGB today. For a sub R1000 keyboard it is pretty darn good. In my opinion the best keyboard within this price class.

The switches are blue like, typists will like it. A good extra to be used at work or to work at home. It isn't as blue as the Cherry Blue and is suitably responsive to do gaming.

A little gem, it also good looking, and does a lot more than rainbow RGB.

Sadly it isn't on special anymore at Takelot, but it is still below R1000. The day these things become popular it will climb up to R1500.

It gets my recommendation. Will it replace by my G910, no. Will I get another P1 to replace another keyboard, yes.

To add, the wrist pad is a bit on the cheap side, the rest is well made.

This is R599 at Cash Crusaders and feels like a pretty decent keyboard in all the 2 hours that I have owned it. Comes in tactile and linear.unnamed.jpg

Real mechanical? Still over priced if it's rainbow only effects.
I got two of these a year ago for R199 each from Takealot
Freaking brilliant for that price. One at the office one at home, so I've put them through their paces.

Yeah proper mechanical. They have some custom blue switch and feel pretty solid. I bought it for typing and programming so not worried about the lighting effects at all. Been looking for a tactile keyboard ever since a cup of coffee put my last one to rest :(

Also looking for some recommendations... See the logitech g213 is priced pretty well, anyone tried it.

Corsair K55 RGB Gaming Keyboard also looks good. Might want to buy it as part of the bundle and then sell the mouse.

This actually looks very good but they don't have hi def enough pics so you can actually see the damn keys....

Mechanical keyboards suck, I dont get how everyone was so sucked in by the marketing.
They dont do anything special and they are noisy as heck.

Not mechanical.
You can get logitech membrane keyboards for less than that, although without the RGB and extra keys.
The only thing I actually want is the extra keys. I can't seem to find any proper multimedia keyboards that are wired.
