So my new PC has started behaving a bit strangely lately (perhaps to do with a mobo firmware update)

I have a dual boot setup with XP and Ubuntu on separate drives. If I switch my PC on I am able to use the keyboard to access the BIOS, but as soon as the OS boot begins (i.e. the time at which a bootable cd would start autobooting) the keyboard switches off and I'm left at the dual boot screen waiting for it to timeout and boot XP by default.

As soon as XP loads the keyboard powers back up and all is good. The problem now is there is no way for me to select Ubuntu anymore :(

I'm using a MS wireless USB keyboard...

Solutions tried so far:
- unplugging and plugging the keyboard at the dual boot screen
- fiddling with bios settings (couldn't find anything relevant)
- unplugging other USB devices (in case there was some sort of conflict/power issue)
- unfortunately I cant reload the previous bios firmware as I need the updated version to correct another issue

Any ideas?

hop into the bis and find a setting called "legacy usb support"..toggle it ..i.e. change it the other way round
