KFC Double Down

Had one yesterday for the first time - didn't think of asking for Zinger.

But I felt kinda dirty - its overrated IMO.

I was expecting a bit more - some seasoning or something to make it something else other than 2 chicken breasts and chicken polony.

I'll stick to Boxmaster's or the fully loaded box meal whenever I find myself passing by a KFC.
Not worth it financially either.

I only have one order at KFC: zinger burger and 8 zinger wings. R25 each. It's the only particularly tasty meal I've ever had at KFC.

Aaaah, you sir, are a KFC bargain genius :D. thank you.

+1.

BTW- I tried this (the Double Down) today (against my better judgement). Surprisingly edible :)
It is very messy though.

I would definitely recommend it as a once-off. Never thought that I would say that.

Agreed. It is messy, and slightly overwhelming. But it's nice to have the option on the menu...

I had my first taste of it today. I like it. No wheat ftw! However I will request no chicken slice next time. I don't fancy it smoked.

no wheat?? plenty gluten there in that nice crispy coating mate!
i quiet like the double down. had a few so far.. zinger option works for me!

my usual kfc order used to be tower zinger and 4 wings..
something about that hash-brown in the tower that does it for me!

I'd like to try the Double Down, but at that price it's madness. I can get a Zinger burger with 8 zinger wings for just about the same amount.

its like R60 for the combo. get some salad or mash and share the meal. so it will work out to about R40 per person.

If an ordinary piece of chicken is about R13, then how the hell can they get away with charging what they do for chucking some cheese and imitation chicken bacon in the centre?

Because they know most people are suckers....it's that special sauce, that they need to retrieve from the magical KFC sauce mine...

Lol that's even worse value for money! Half a Double Down, half a small portion of chips, half a coke and a handful of salad for R40.

i hear you, thats why we remove most of the coating especially the greasy bits. we dont mind the really crispy coating

well its all relative. i'd get full on that. especially since i dont have fizzy drinks and cut back on carbs.
actually i'm not sure what you guys are on about. buying the double down is optional. if you can afford it and like it then buy it otherwise eat something else. afterall its only a quick meal and then you move on.

I'm just lamenting the stupid price. I'll definitely be sticking to the zinger burger meal and 8 zinger wings for R60. Now that's a proper meal.
